Implications of DACA come out during panel at Elon

Elon students and professors gathered in LaRose Digital Theater Sept. 18 to discuss the effects of the repealing of DACA. Every seat in the theater was filled as the crowd eagerly waited to hear from the panelists. Dozens of students and faculty members sat on the floor, occupying any available space.

Elon University men’s basketball secures gritty, physical win over Hampton

The Elon University men’s basketball team defeated Hampton University 70-62 in a game marked by fouls and stellar play from both beyond the 3-point line and in the paint. Sophomore Nick Dorn, who leads the team with 15.6 points per game, began the game by knocking down an early 3-pointer to get a noisy and energetic Schar Center crowd going. Dorn made another 3-pointer soon after thanks to redshirt sophomore Andrew King who stole the ball by intercepting a Hampton pass.

Elon University’s sustainable efforts see high price tag

Elon University’s greenhouse gas emissions were 26% lower in the 2023 fiscal year than in 2008 fiscal year in efforts to reach Elon’s goal of becoming fully carbon neutral by 2037, according to Senior Director of Sustainability Elaine Durr. On Oct. 14, 2024, Elon University released its updated Sustainability Draft Master Plan for feedback from the campus community, both online and in group sessions, which will soon be voted on for final approval. Right now, Elon is working off the 2015 Sustainability Master Plan, which outlines becoming fully carbon neutral by 2037.
